Tidbits

our group

On October 23 of last year, we led a leisurely morning walk up from Harvey West Park along Pogonip trails. It was a lovely Sunday morning, enjoyed by all—a diverse group. Along the way we had a look at the Pogonip Clubhouse, and here we are, standing in front of the chain link fence that surrounds the structure. Can you identify anyone in the photo? If so, send us an email.

clubhouse history

In front of the fence there is this informative display panel. If you click on the image and expand your browser window you can read what it says. (It doesn't mention that the building played a role in the 1986 movie The Lost Boys. This was their home.) If you read the notice at the bottom (“Stabilization Project Grant”) you might be led to think that the Clubhouse is in the process of being restored, but alas, that is not the case. Not many years ago the City was awarded a grant to help with the restoration, but they allowed it to lapse. Now the Clubhouse just sits there, not improving with time. If you'd like to see the restoration process restarted, consider sending our City Council an email, by clicking here. It used to be a really cool place, unique to Santa Cruz.

brayshaw sign

Here's an interesting one. Where is the Brayshaw Trail? Are you on it, or is it 0.3 miles to the left?
